May His Peace Be with You: The Power of Putting God First

When we think about our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in our own needs and desires. We focus on our relationships, our work, our goals, and our ambitions. But Jesus taught us a different way - a way that puts God first. In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus referred to this summation as the great commandment. The First Commandment sets the tone for the first four commandments, which can be summarized as loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, and strength.

God loves us deeply, and He desires that we love Him just as deeply. This means putting Him first in every aspect of our lives. 'You shall have no other gods before Me' (Exodus 20:2-3) is a clear reminder that God should be our top priority. It's easy to get distracted by the world around us, but when we put God first, everything else falls into place.

One of the key challenges in putting God first is finding the time and energy to devote to Him. As we go about our daily lives, it's tempting to let busyness and stress consume us. But Jesus reminds us that we don't have to be burdened by these worries (Matthew 6:8). He knows what we need before we even ask.

In times of fear and worry, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. We may feel like the weight of our responsibilities is crushing us, or that we're not good enough to succeed. But God wants us to know that He is with us, even in those moments (Matthew 6:8). He knows every detail of our lives and desires to help us complete our tasks faithfully.

As we strive to put God first, it's essential to remember His love for us. When we feel like giving up or losing faith, we can look back on past times when we've overcome similar challenges by His Spirit. We can also trust that He has a good plan for our lives and work (Jeremiah 29:11).

So the next time you're feeling burdened or worried about your work, remember to bring those anxieties to God. Ask Him to meet you in them, and trust that He will give you the patience, energy, persistence, and courage you need to succeed. As you put God first, may His peace be with you.
